Gene Bursting Plays a Key Role in Protein Production

Switching on and off of a gene is known as “bursting“. It is a dominant method by which gene makes protein. This gives a great insight for the scholars to understand what actually happens at the molecular level when there is a disruptionin this mechanism; such as in cancer or when exposed to a particular drug. The synthesis of proteins takes place within every individual cell. DNA and genes contains the instructions for making proteins and are stored within the nucleus of each cell. As gene switches on, the information is transcribed as a copy onto the RNA. Another type of genetic material then directs the protein synthesis. Proteins perform a numerous functions within the cell. It includes breaking down and digesting fats to fight against foreign bodies, such as bacteria, viruses or other invading organism. The timing and frequency with which a particular protein is synthesized is crucial in maintaining the health of the cell. Bursting frequency increases till the time it reaches a particular threshold. The higher protein levels are attained by increasing the size of the bursts and eventually it seizes when there is no further requirement of any protein product. In cancers, the genes may be switched on at the wrong times and eventually it leads to the formation of tumor. This provides a solid base to prevent and treat some of the most life threatening diseases.
